Well, it can but you need to install codecs to play HD videos.


But VLC Media Player can play HD Videos without installing any codecs. Plus if you are using VLC to play DVDs, right click the video %26gt; Deinterlace %26gt; Linear if you are using PAL videos and you can watch the video with all the frames per second without a pulldown.Does windows media player play high def content? can other programs play films (avi.) clearer, sharper etc?
Yes VLC is definitely among the best.





But u can also use window player classic and installed a full free codec (Klite codec pack) for other format.





Sorry it doesn't change the clearer and sharper because it depends on the original video, how is it coded, what format, frames rate etc.
VLC Player with the right codecs will give you sharper playback than the windows player.
