If i'm not mistaken i think not all streaming channels are compatible fully with new versions of WMP. Also, check if pplive is streaming in colour in its online player.
Maybe is TV program in black and white? There is no much to do, try reinstalling program, or getting a new version (that will be best). Download some codecs like K-Lite codec pack (it's freeware).
